Drive Through Christmas Village Returns to the Tobacco Farm Life Museum

The Tobacco Farm Life Museum will host its second annual Drive Through Christmas Village holiday lights this year during the first three weekends of December. This year’s event will build on last year’s decorations with more exhibits and more lights!

The original inspiration for the museum’s “Christmas Village” theme was the miniature porcelain Christmas Villages that adorn many family rooms during the holiday season. The museum’s holiday lights and decorations are also inspired by the rural farming community whose history we preserve and share at the museum.

Light exhibits include an ice-skating rink, a gingerbread house, an enchanted forest, a candy garden, and more.

Visitors can walk the grounds Friday, December 3rd. The walk-through event is free, but donations are welcome. This special community preview night is part of the museum’s partnership with the Town of Kenly and the Kenly Area Chamber of Commerce as a kick-off event for Kenly’s Christmas on Main, which will be held on Saturday, December 4th.

All other nights of the Christmas Village will be drive through only with tickets at $10 per car. Proceeds from the event support the museum’s mission to preserve and present the history of the rural farming community of North Carolina. The lights will run each evening from 6 to 8 pm on December 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, and 18th. You can find out more about the event and get your tickets here: https://www.tobaccofarmlifemuseum.org/christmasvillage

The Kitchen of Ahhz food truck will be on-site serving hotdogs, hamburgers, hot chocolate, coffee and much more.

A photo contest will be held from December 3rd – December 18th. Individuals who tag photos on social media with #TFLMVillage21 with their best photos will be entered. First place prize is $200, Second place prize is $100 and Third place prize is $50. Photos may be used by the Tobacco Farm Life Museum for future public promotions of the Museum and/or the Drive Through Christmas Village event.

Such Christmas houses really serve as a decoration for the home. Fittingly, a Christmas photo contest can be an interesting and fun way to engage your audience and celebrate the holiday with your community couple sleeping images Don't forget to spread the word about the contest far enough in advance so that everyone who wants to participate has time to prepare their photos.
