Jesse Franklin Woodard, Sr.
Jesse and Jessie Pearl Woodard were the parents of two sons - Jesse Franklin and Roy Linwood - and the family lived in Kenly, North Carolina. Jesse Franklin known as Frank was the older of the two boys and entered the first grade at Kenly High School in 1948. He was an active member of his class during his school years, and played basketball and baseball on the kenley high School teams. It was also a member of the Glee club, beta club, and annual staff. Known for his charm and fun-loving attitude, he was voted by his peers as the wittiest boy of the class of 1960.
After graduating from Kenly High school, Frank attended North Carolina State University and Campbell University, graduating from the latter in 1965. Afterward, Frank worked with the Choicepoint Commercial Specialists for over 35 years. In 1999, he was awarded Choicepoint's Field Representative of the Year Award.
On October 6th, 1979, Frank and Sandy Hollingsworth were married at Falling Creek Baptist Church in Grantham, North Carolina. Frank and Sandy had two daughters, Rebecca and Holly. Chris and Holly daily have two sons, Christopher and carson. Carson was born on April 2nd 2003.
The word family attended falling Creek Baptist Church where Frank was very active, serving as Sunday School teacher, choir member, and deacon.
Frank service community by being a member of the Grantham volunteer rescue squad from which he retired after 25 years of service. For his dedication the Wayne County rescue squad association has recognized and with a lifetime membership.
Frank's hobbies included driving his Mustang convertible and playing golf. His favorite pastimes however, involved his family. His greatest pleasures were times he spent with his children and grandchildren. Going to Campbell to watch Rebecca cheer and playing with his grandson Chris were special blessings for Frank.
Jesse Franklin Woodard was respected and loved by the people of the Grantham community and the cherished member of the Kenly High School Class of 1960. In the words of his classmate Felton Knight, "He was a superb individual."
