Pittman, Jack and Neta

Jack Pittman was born on a farm in Johnston County on February 11, 1918, to William Gray and Martha Pittman. As soon as he was old enough, he began working on his parents farm and then later on his own land. Jack married Neta Raper, a farm girl, on November 27, 1935. They farmed until Jack became disabled and could not do the work he so loved. He planted tobacco as his main cash crop and supplemented that income with cotton and corn. Jack and Neta’s marriage have lasted sixty-three years and they have one son, Bobby, who blessed them with three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
