McNeill, Janie Bryden

March 8, 1962 - February 12, 1938

Janie Bryden McNeill was born in Seven Springs, NC. She was the daughter of the late John K. and Lucy Swindell McNeill, and sister of Katie McNeill Hooks. Her ancestors immigrated from Scotland in 1746 and settle in Clarkton, NC. Her father was a carpenter who lived with Katie and Walter Hooks through much of their adult lives.

"Miss Janie" worked in the general merchandise store owned by Mr. W. T. Bailey and later owned by his son, Dobbin Bailey. She was a Sunday School Teacher in the nursery of the Kenly Presbyterian Church until her health failed.
