Linton, Richard H., PH.D.

Dr. Richard Linton is the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University. Dr. Linton received the "Excellence in Agriculture Award" at the Tobacco Farm Life Museum's event "Breakfast with the Commissioner. Robert received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

He is dedicated to the importance of food safety and food quality. Throughout his career he has used research to develop rapid detection technologies for biological and chemical foodborne hazards. In addition to his successful research, Linton has also lead instruction for graduate and undergraduate level courses in food safety, food safety management, food science, and leadership principles.

Dr. Richard Linton has been honored with various awards, has published several written texts, and has given presentations on state, national, and international levels. In April of 2015, Governor Pat McCrory appointed Linton as the chair for the Food Manufacturing Task Force which will evaluate opportunities to grow food manufacturing in North Carolina, which is an issue that Dr. Linton is very passionate about.
