Adna Leigh attended Kenly School and St. Mary's College. She taught school until she married Carl Lewis She was active in the community being the first librarian in the Kenly Library, President of the Kenly Woman's Club, active in her bridge club, and working as a seamstress. She was a Sunday School teacher and church historian for the Kenly Baptist Church.

Carl Lewis as born in Four Oaks, North Carolina. He attended Campbell College. Carl was a Pharmaceutical Salesman by profession. He enjoyed his church work serving as Sunday school superintendent and deacon. He was interested in young people and was instrumental in providing transportation to church for community youth. Carl's civic activities included being President of the Kenly Kiwanis Club and a life member of the North Carolina Travelers' Association. His hobbies were golf and bridge.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis have one daughter, Ida Elizabeth L. Funk of Durham, N. C., and two grandchildren.
