Hinnant, Blenn

October 22, 1904 - November 19, 1987

Blenn Hinnant born in Wilson County, Buckhorn area, October 22, 1904. Son of Thomas Bragg Hinnant and Alice Rains Hinnant. Married Senie Scott Hinnant on April 16, 1927.

Senie was daughter of Robert L. Scott and Emma Holland Scott and was born October 15, 1907. They had two children, Rudolph Blenn and Ralph Harold Hinnant.

For the first six years of the Hinnant's marriage, they farmed. After which he began operation of Blenn Hinnant Garage, which later became Kenly Motor Company. He was a former member of Buckhorn Methodist Church and in about 1940 moved his membership to Kenly Methodist Church where he served many years as a member of the Board of Stewards.

He joined the Kenly Volunteer Fire Department and served twenty-eight years as Fireman, with fifteen of those years being served as Fire Chief. While serving in this position he helped organize many of the fire departments in Johnston County.

He helped organize Kenly Development Cooperation. He was a member of the Kenly Savings and Loan Association for thirty-one years and served on the Appraisal Board for many years.

He was interested in the Tobacco Farm Life Museum in Kenly and enjoyed work as a volunteer when able. He also was a member of the Century Club of North Carolina and received a plaque from the State for having farm land which had been in the Hinnant Family for more than 100 years.

He died at his home November 19, 1987.
