Lela Flowers was born on a farm in Johnston County. She attended Kenly School. Her life was spent maintaining a home for her family in Kenly. She taught the Beginners in the Kenly Free Will Baptist Church for thirty years. She loved children and the children, in turn, loved her. This love and respect encouraged many children to attend Sunday School and Bible School.

Add G. Davis was born on a farm in Wayne County where he lived until he moved to Kenly. He spent his life as an insurance agent for Pilot Life Insurance Company.
He was a man true to his word. Once he made a commitment, he completed the task to the best of his ability.

Add G. and Lela Davis had three children: James Keith, John Alton, and Elizabeth Davis Woodard (died September 28, 1965).
