The Museum is temporarily closed.
The general tour of the Museum includes a 15 minute film, self guided tour of the 6,000 sq. ft. gallery and 7 buildings on site. We suggest 1.5-2 hours to tour the grounds.

Staff suggests bringing an umbrella, in case of rain, as many of the buildings have shelters but there are no covered walk ways between buildings. The museum may close for snow, hurricanes or other severe weather conditions. Visitors can check our Facebook page or call our office at 919-284-3431 for further details on closing due to severe weather conditions.
The 6,000 sq. ft. Museum Gallery and bathrooms are accessible to wheelchairs and walkers. Walkways on the grounds are available to assist with use of wheelchairs and walkers on the grounds. Historic buildings do have 3-5 steps required for entry.
The Museum grounds are kept natural and therefore have tree roots, may be uneven or may have some limbs/pine cones. Antique equipment can be found on the grounds and may be sharp or rusted. For visitor safety we do ask that visitors remain on the walkways and out of designated display areas.
