Historic Interpreter
The Tobacco Farm Life Museum is seeking a part-time (25 hours) Historic Interpreter to assist with group tours, volunteer programming and public relations.  Successful candidates should be willing to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.  Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products required. Time management, organization, and written/oral communication skills are essential.  Familiarity with social media platforms a plus. Must be willing for work some weekends and occasional evenings for special events.

Join the team - Become a Volunteer!

The TFLM appreciates the hard work and dedication of its volunteers! Volunteers help the Museum in a number of different ways. Volunteers who contribute more than 10 hours in a year receive a free individual membership to the Museum. 

Greeter/Admissions - These volunteers greet visitors, answer questions, operate the cash register, and start the orientation film. They may also help in the gift shop. 

Tour Guide/Tour Activity Helper - These volunteers lead guided tours and help with activities such as butter churning, heritage games, artifact discovery, and candle making. 

Maintenance - These volunteers help us maintain our buildings and grounds and keep them looking nice and functioning smoothly for our visitors. 

Special Event - These volunteers help us staff special events, man registration tables, ticket sales, or refreshment sales, help with special activities or crafts, help with set up or clean up, or help at the front desk or gift shop during a busy event.

Collections/Special Projects - These volunteers and interns help with a myriad of tasks including cataloging, exhibits, evaluation, programming, planning, and more. These projects can be tailored to a class project or to meet the requirements of a college internship program.
